Georgia’s Updated Regulatory Requirements for the Importation of Electronic Devices
In a recent statement, The Ministry of Environment for Georgia, advised that it is now mandatory for all electronic devices entering the country to undergo registration within the Waste Management System of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
To facilitate this process, either the Importer of Record (IoR) or the owner of the imported electronic devices is required to establish a local contract with a Non-Governmental Organization (N.G.O) in the country. This N.G.O is aligned with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
As a result of this, Oximio Geo LLC has proactively become part of the Waste Management System, solidifying our commitment to compliance with these regulations. We have successfully established a contract with a reputable local entity, empowering us to act as the Importer of Record for electronic and battery devices imported into the country.
It is essential to note that the responsibility for registering imported/exported materials rests solely with the IoR or the owner of the goods. This duty cannot be delegated to a third party, such as a broker – the IoR, or owner, must actively oversee and undertake this essential procedure. At Oximio, we can take on the role of IOR and can undertake this service on behalf of our customers.
Your cooperation and understanding in adhering to these regulatory requirements is greatly appreciated. If you have any further questions or would like to find out how we can support you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
